Made Local: 5 Irish skincare brands to check out in 2021

If one good thing has come out of the pandemic, it's the attention that has been drawn to Irish ingenuity. From restaurants transforming into food trucks to start ups being created from bedrooms in lockdown, Irish businesses have worked had to survive and thrive over the past number of months.

Thankfully, in return, Irish shoppers have been eager to shop local and support businesses who have fought to stay afloat throughout the pandemic.


To help shoppers find even more homegrown talent this year, Design & Crafts Council Ireland launched their second annual #MADELOCAL campaign which aims to promote the many talented craftspeople here in Ireland and encourage the general public to discover new makers to shop, gift and wear.

We don't always think of the beauty market when we think of Irish makers but there are so many to choose from. To give you a taste, here are some of the makers we're sure you’ll love:


Airmid Natural Skincare

This traditional soap making company from Co. Clare offers skincare from the Heart of the Burren, inspired by the rare and mystical landscape of bedrock, cliffs and caves. Their natural chamomile and lemon shampoo bar, €11.95 leaves hair silky smooth and nourished.


waters + wild perfumery


A certified organic Irish perfume company that you'll be proud to buy from. Based in beautiful West Cork, their scents take inspiration from the natural beauty that surrounds us. Their Wild Rose and Oud fragrance, €35 is summer in a bottle.


Green Angel


Founded in 2006 by Chris and Mary Mitchell, this company came about when the duo saw a need for a natural skincare that really works. Merging two ancient therapies - Thalassotherapy (use of seawater and seaweed) and Aromatherapy (use of essential oils) - Green Angel offers the full gambit of face, body, haircare and fragrances. Oxmantown Skincare


A natural, ethical and environmentally friendly skincare company based in Stoneybatter, Dublin.
